HandsOn JAX offers businesses opportunities to volunteer

Businesses that want to give back to the community have an opportunity as HandsOn Jacksonville celebrates the largest national day of community service, Make a Difference Dayhandson on Oct. 23. On that day, hundreds of volunteers will stuff backpacks with books and toys, which will be delivered to targeted elementary schools having 75% of more students on free or subsidized lunch plans.

According to Kim Bomberger, communications director of the volunteer agency, individuals and companies have a number of opportunities to connect to a volunteer project on Make a Difference Day. Some include beach cleanup, helping at a nonprofit animal clinic, and helping at the Teacher Supply Depot. Businesses can also organize their own volunteer project.
