Award earned for Nocatee Aquatics Park

The design firm of Ervin Lovett Miller (ELM) won an Aurora Award at the 2010 Southeast Building Conference/Green Building Show for the Nocatee Splash Water Park, located in the emerging 14,000-acre community of Nocatee. The park opened in April as the largest aquatic and amenity center of its kind in Northeast Florida and serves as the social, recreational, and fitness centerpiece for the Nocatee community.

ELM served as the planner, architect, and landscape architect for the Nocatee Splash Water Park and the 75-acre Nocatee Community Park, both of which are designed to serve a diverse population of residents in the master-planned community.

“There are so many unique issues that must be understood and attended to in the design of these facilities,” said Steve Lovett, a partner with the firm. “So much of the success or failure of any project is in how the edges are treated, and at Nocatee it was crucial to integrate buildings, pools, decks, hardscape features, and landscape areas as one design problem. By applying our expertise through this approach, I believe we have maximized the potential of the site, eliminated potential conflicts, created economies for our client, and successfully delivered a desirable hallmark venue for Nocatee’s residents.”
