CFF trout classic to start Sept. 30

It’s time to “Catch the Cure” for cystic fibrosis. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation announces the 9thOldest City Red-Trout Classic logo.small.pg Annual Oldest City Red Trout Classic presented by PSS World Medical will be Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the Kingfish Grill in St. Augustine, Fla. This classic is a catch-and -release tournament and is part of the Redbone Red Trout Tournament Series. Guides and anglers will team up to catch redfish and trout while raising money to support medical research for cystic fibrosis.

“We are honored by the generosity and excitement shown by our sponsors and participants leading up to this event,” said Angela Costa, director of special events at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation North Florida office. “Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the foundation and the ongoing, vital research needed to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.”

The 9th Annual Oldest City Red Trout Classic will be covered by the Saltwater Tournament Series television program as part of its first year on The Outdoor Channel. This is the rebirth of the Saltwater Tournament Series previously on ESPN. For the past several years the series has featured Redbone Fishing Tournaments across the United States helping to spread the news about the important work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The Oldest City Red Trout Classic will begin the evening of Thursday, Sept. 30, with a captain’s dinner and auction at the St. Augustine Rod and Gun Club. Check-in and breakfast will begin at 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1 at Camachee Cove Yacht Harbor, followed by the Blessing of the Fleet. Participants will cast their first lines at 7 a.m. There will be a dockside party and reception from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Kingfish Grill. The tournament continues on Saturday at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast and concludes at 3 p.m. followed by the awards reception held at the Kingfish Grill.
