Registration open for boat parade

Do you have a boat? Consider using it as a teambuilding activity that can publicize your business. Consider Jacksonville’s 2010 Light Parade. The city invites all captains and crews to register for the 2010 Jacksonville Light Parade. Scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. on the downtown riverfront. The parade is open to sailboats and powerboats of all shapes and sizes. Registration is free but is limited to the first 100 vessels.

Boaters have the opportunity to spend time with family, friends, and co-workers while decorating their boat for entrance in one of five of categories. Categories are as follows:

• More than 30 feet (private individual),

• Under 30 feet (private individual),

• Sailboat,

• Corporate/Commercial, and Organized Club.

In addition to preferred docking for the fireworks display following the parade and a post-event Captains’ Party directly following the parade, captains and crews have a chance to win numerous prizes. Awards are given for Grand Overall, Best New Entry, Private Individual 30 feet and over (first and second place winners), private individual under 30 feet (first and second place winners), Sailboat (first and second place winners), Corporate/Commercial, Organized Club and Holiday Spirit.
