Local area represented on Florida Green Building Coalition board

Two area business people have been elected members of the 2010 board of directors of the Florida Green Building Coalition, Jeannette Moore, JM Properties and Bill Lazar, St. Johns Housing Partnership, both of St. Augustine, are the new local members.

The Florida Green Building Coalition is an independent non-profit organization that was established in 2000 to promote green building in the state of Florida through the development of voluntary green building standards. FGBC’s membership is comprised of individuals and businesses from all areas of the building industry, including research, design, materials, products, construction, inspection, marketing, financing, sales, and government.

These new Board members began their 3-year terms at the FGBC board of directors meeting on June 2, 2010, during the FGBC GreenTrends Conference being held at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel in St. Petersburg on June 2-4.

The Board is comprised of 25 directors, three representatives from each of the eight affiliations, plus one representative from the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA). One seat in each category is elected annually. Eric Gimson, Two Trails, Inc., Sarasota, FL, is the FHBA appointee.

The earning board positions were:

Real Estate, Finance & Property Services – Jeannette Moore, JM Properties, St. Augustine;

Development & Construction – Bill Lazar, St. Johns Housing Partnership, St. Augustine;

Academic & Research – Stephanie Thomas-Rees, Florida Solar Energy Center, Cocoa;

At-Large – Mike Rogers, Capitol Green Building Group, Tallahassee;

Design & Analysis – William (Bill) Eggers, VHB MillerSellen, Orlando;

Government – Julia Galofre, Charlotte County Government, Port Charlotte;

Product – John Schutt, Southern Cross Building Products, Boynton Beach;

Public Advocate – Honey Rand, Environmental PR Group, Lutz.
