Golf tourney raises funds for UNF engineering scholarships

More than 100 golfers participated in the 20th annual First Coast Manufacturers AssociationFCMA logosmall(FCMA) golf tournament conducted to fund engineering scholarships to the University of North Florida (UNF). The event was at St. Johns Golf and Country Club.

 “The proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards paying for engineering scholarships each year, in addition to building our college endowment program,” said Lad Daniels, FCMA president.“As manufacturers, we want to support our students in Northeast Florida to take advantage of the educational opportunities, right here in Jacksonville and particularly in the science, mathematics and chemistry fields,” Daniels explained. “By offering scholarships and tying them to the outstanding engineering program at UNF, we hope to develop local talent for our area manufacturers.”

FCMA ( is a non-profit trade association serving Northeast Florida. There are over 1,500 manufacturing companies on the First Coast, supplying over 45,000 jobs and generating nearly 15% of the total gross regional product.
