‘Business of Technology’ conference set for August 4-6

A limited audience of entrepreneurs and principals of small to medium-sized software businesses as well asHashrocket.small independent consultants will converge on Amelia Island at the Ritz Carlton, Aug. 4-6, to attend BizConf, a summit and networking event for leaders of web design and development.

Hosted by Hashrocket, a Web design consultancy company headquartered in Jacksonville Beach, BizConf was created in 2009 as a way to address the business education of technologists. Obie Fernandez, CEO and founder of Hashrocket, said, “We attract attendees from all over the world and limit attendance to 75. The lectures and workshops are intense, focused and appeal to business at hand.”

Fernandez, an expert on Web design and development technology, will open the conference and give a workshop on Master Service Agreement (MSA) and Statement of Work (SOW) contracts.  In addition to Fernandez, confirmed speakers, who will present concurrent workshops from which participants can select, include:

• Douglas Rushkoff, an American media theorist, writer, columnist, lecturer, graphic novelist and documentarian, will give the keynote address.

• Steven M. Smith, an independent management consultant, “Power, Authority, and Teams.”

• The Bui Brothers, photographers and videographers specializing in online media, Noodle Scar, “New Media Workshop;”

• James Duncan Davidson is a photographer, author, and software developer, “Photographer Boot Camp;”

•  Don Gray, organizational coach,, “Personality Preferences,” and other workshops;

• David Laribee, product development team coach, VersionOne, “Visualizing Success With Kanban;”

•  Gregg Pollack, owner, Envy Labs, “Podcasting and Screencasting;”

• Jessica Shternshus, founder and owner of The IMPROV EFFECT, “Communication through Improvisation;”

• Jonathan Siegel, ELC Technologies, opening keynote, “Embracing the F [failure] word;”
