April 15 set for Girls Going Places Entrepreneurship Conference

The 5th Annual Girls Going Places Entrepreneurship Conference, a one-day event designed to encourage high schoolGirls Going Placesgirls to take control of their financial future at an early age, will take place April 15 at the University of North Florida Small Business Development Center.

The conference in Jacksonville has so far exposed more than 400 young women to a new world of opportunities by broadening their understanding of the business world, starting businesses, managing personal finances and highlighting the advantage of financial independence.

As part of the conference, successful women business owners will share their ideas and experience as mentors.

The Girls Going Places Entrepreneurship Conferences are held around the nation and were first brought to Jacksonville in 2005 as part of the NFL-sanctioned community events held during Super Bowl XXXIX Week, in conjunction with the Small Business Development Center at the University of North Florida and Guardian Life Insurance. 

This year’s event will run from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the UNF University Center. The SBDC is encouraging women business owners who would like to be a mentor for the day e-mail mhague@unf.edu . For more information go to www.sbdc.unf.edu.
