Golfer donates $30K to Monique Burr Foundation

The Monique Burr Foundation for Children is $30,000 richer, thanks to the generosity of local PGA Tour golferJim Furyk smalll Jim Furyk, a 13-time PGA TOUR event winner. This contribution is a portion of the charitable proceeds generated from The Presidents Cup 2009 at Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco, Calif., in which Furyk participated as a member of the victorious U.S. Team for the sixth time in his career.

The Presidents Cup is a unique golf event in that there is no purse or prize money. Each competitor, captain, and captain’s assistant is allowed to allocate funds to chosen charitable causes. Furyk has long been a supporter of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children and once again showed his support with this gift.

“We are humbled and honored that Jim has selected the foundation to receive this charitable donation and on behalf of our entire staff and the children we help, I would like to thank him a thousand times over,” said Lynn Layton, executive director of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, whose mission is to provide hope in the lives of children by providing training and education to prevent and reduce the rate of abuse among children throughout Florida.
