Farmers’ markets to collect goods for Haiti victims

Global Greenup, the company that sponsors farmers’ markets in three locations around Jacksonville, is coordinating on behalf of Mission Harvest America, a drive for goods to send to earthquake victims in Haiti. According to an e-mail from Global Greenup, the drive conducted the weekend of Jan. 15–Jan. 17 resulted in more than a truckload of emergency supplies.

Donations can be brought to any of the three farmers’ markets:

• 1910 Wells Rd., Orange Park, Fl., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday

• 2349 Village Square Parkway, Orange Park, Fl., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday

• 10601 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Fl., from noon to 4 p.m., Sunday.

Need items include:

• Bags of rice or beans

• Powdered milk  

• Flashlights and batteries

• Disposable BBQ grills

·  Sanitizing wipes

• Toiletries

•  Canned meats or fish

• Non-prescription medical supplies and first aid items

• Camping tents

• Portable generators

• Portable Lights

• Clothes, mostly for children

• Shoes, no high heels or boots please 

• Underwear [new, please]
