Sustainable Energy Solutions LLC Expands to Baton Rouge

Sustainable Energy Solutions LLC ( asustainablenergy developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy projects, has completed the acquisition of Baton Rouge Renewable Energy LLC (BRRE) in Baton Rouge, La., from Illumination Renewables LLC.

SES currently has three landfill gas-to-energy projects located in Georgia and Alabama. This acquisition will expand SES’s marketplace to Louisiana.

BRRE is party to a long-term landfill gas lease agreement with the City of Baton Rouge and the Parish of East Baton Rouge to install a comprehensive landfill gas collection system at the North landfill and to further process the landfill gas for use as a renewable fuel. BRRE recently entered into long-term landfill gas off-take agreements with ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant and Novolyte Technologies Inc. to provide landfill gas to each facility to be utilized in lieu of natural gas in commercial boiler applications.

BRRE has entered into a comprehensive Engineering Procurement and Construction Agreement with Siemens Industry, Inc. to design, permit, construct and start up the landfill gas collection system, the gas compression and dehydration facility, and dedicated pipelines to each customer totaling approximately 4.5 miles. Construction is to start immediately and SES will provide equity to finance the project.

“We are extremely pleased with this acquisition” said Bill Gibbes, president of SES, “not only for the scope and magnitude of the medium BTU landfill gas project, but more importantly for the high quality partnerships involved with the City of Baton Rouge, ExxonMobil, Novolyte Technologies, and Siemens Industry. Additionally, we are fortunate to have Brad Ives, formerly CEO of Illumination Renewables LLC, join the SES management team as Executive Vice President focusing on expansion of our business platform.”
