NFIB/FL to testify on priorities in Florida legislature

The legislative affairs director of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) will be testifying before the House Economic Development and Community Affairs Policy Council on Nov. 4.  

The testimony of Allen Douglas will focus on the importance of small business to Florida’s economy and the need for the state to do whatever possible to reduce taxes and eliminate unnecessary regulations to help businesses recover from the recession and begin growing and hiring again.

NFIB will also address the crisis facing small business in regard to the state’s unemployment compensation trust fund, which ran out of money in August and is currently borrowing from the federal government to pay Florida’s unemployed. The organization intends to work to prevent further taxes or assessments from being imposed on businesses in order to continue to support the fund.
