Kids foundation receives THE PLAYERS grant

More than 150 first through twelfth grade youth will now have additional academic support, thanks in part to akidsfoundation.small grant to the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation from THE PLAYERS Championship. As part of THE PLAYERS “Giving Back Month,” the tournament’s past chairmen — the Red Coats — will deliver the funding on Nov. 2, to MWKF and 24 other First Coast charities during their “Red Coat Ride Out.”

Specifically, THE PLAYERS grant will go toward providing additional tutoring and homework assistance help including extended evening hours and Saturday morning. In addition to tutoring, FCAT and ACT/SAT prep classes will be offered.

“MWKF really  appreciates the support of THE PLAYERS Championship.  The community supports us through ticket sales and volunteering, which makes this contribution possible,” said MaliVai Washington, MWKF Founder. “This grant will help us to vastly increase our intensive academic program in Durkeeville, an impoverished area of Jacksonville’s northside.”

The mission of the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation is to develop champions in classrooms, on tennis courts, and throughout communities. After school and summer camp youth development programs are provided to more than 200 children annually, along with additional tennis programs for thousands of youth.

THE PLAYERS Championship contributes to a diverse group of charities throughout Northeast Florida, living by the PGA TOUR’s mission to give back to the communities in which it plays.
