FCMA creates new networking process for membership

To help its members do more business with each other, the First Coast Manufacturers Association (FCMA, at has introduced a new process to bring large companies together with smaller vendors to develop sales relationships.

In September, FCMA set up a workshop luncheon and golf outing, which allowed representatives from four large area manufacturers—Atlantic Marine, CSX, Gerdau Ameristeel, and Vistakon— to meet, talk with, and spend personal time with smaller area vendors. More than 33 companies participated in the first time event.

 “This was one of the best attended workshops we have had,” explained Lad Daniels, president of FCMA. “The large manufacturers were enthusiastic about learning more about local vendors because they actually want to do business with sources within the city. And the smaller vendors had an opportunity they never had before to meet with those in charge of the purchasing process,” Daniels added.

FCMA conducts several networking activities throughout the year, according to Daniels. The new event was structured to develop relationships with key purchasing decision makers. Daniels said the results showed it was a great idea for our members.

The First Coast Manufacturers Association is a non-profit trade association serving Northeast Florida.
