Builder offers educational tours of green home

Aurora Custom Homes has begun construction on an ultimate green home in Ponte Vedra Beach that is being built to receive LEED, Green Built Homes of Florida and Energy Star certifications. As the custom builder continues to install and implement energy efficient products into the home, it is offering the public the opportunity to tour the home and learn about its sustainable design and products.
“To truly understand the benefits of an eco-friendly home, I believe homebuyers need to visually see the green building materials going into the residence to comprehend how they can lower energy bills and reduce the impact on the environment,” said Michael Lenahen, president of Aurora Custom Homes and Certified Green Professional, a designation issued by the National Association of Home Builders. “We are providing educational tours of the home, by appointment only, to allow the public a behind-the-scenes look at how to build a sustainable home that is energy efficient and limits the use of natural resources.”
The Ponte Vedra Beach residence is expected to be completed in 2010. Tours can be arranged by calling 904-246-5400.
