Become a partner for the 2010 Census

The Florida sector of the National Federation of Independent Businesses has teamed up with thecensus Census Bureau and is looking for partners to assist in accurate collection of data in the 2010 Census.

The Census Bureau will provide partners with promotional outreach materials as well as regular updates on events and activities to make it easy for them to support the 2010 Census and get the word out to clients and customers.

According to the Census Bureau and NFIB, an accurate census is important to small businesses because the data affects the amount of federal funds awarded to states and communities; impacts community planning efforts, such as where to build roads, hospitals, and schools; and determines how many seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives as well as the redistricting of state legislatures, county and city councils, and voting districts.

The goal of the Census Bureau’s partnership program is to combine the strengths of local governments, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, schools, media, businesses and others, to ensure the most accurate count possible for 2010 Census.

Partners can participate in a number of ways, such as:

• Promoting the census in newsletters, mailings, and other in-house communications, including electronic messaging;

• Displaying or distributing 2010 promotional materials;

• Providing space to test census-taker job applicants;

• Organizing or serving as a member on a Complete Count Committee;

• Allowing the Census Bureau to post the organization’s name on the 2010 Census Web site;

• Distributing educational materials; and

• Volunteering in Census Bureau-sponsored events.

To become a partner, download the form and fax it back to 850-561-6759, call 850-681-0416 for more information, or e-mail Eva.Gamble@nfib.org.
