NE Florida Economic Opportunity Summit set for Sept. 9

Small business owners and those aspiring to become entrepreneurs can get a head start at theNetworking Group Northeast Florida Economic Opportunity Summit September 9. This free event will be held at the Jacksonville Public Library, 303 North Laura Street, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to event organizers. The event, organized by the First Coast African American Chamber of Commerce, is being sponsored by Access Florida finance Corporation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, CSX, and State Farm Florida Insurance.

The event, which will focus on jobs, business opportunities, networking, and self-improvement, is open to the public. Registration is required for some workshops (on a first-come basis).  Registration can be done online at or by calling 904-652-1500.

To date, a number of exhibitors have committed to the forum: Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, City of Jacksonville/Blueprint for Prosperity, United States Army, United States Navy, Internal Revenue Service, Federal Express, Prudential, State Farm, Haven Hospice, Florida Black Chamber, Access Florida Finance Corporation, CSX, Wealth Watchers, Work Source, Sam’s Club, Baptist Medical Center, Mass Mutual, Winn Dixie, Wal-Mart, JaxPort, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.

Participants will be able to network, attend workshops of business plans, managing a non-profit organization, taking a new career path, and discussing career and business issues in a round-table format.
