2009 pay raises average about 2%

If you are in a position to offer employees a raise, you may be wondering, “How much?” The answer depends uponpaycheck your bottom line. But, you may be curious about the amount of raises other companies are giving this year.

According to the 2009 WorldatWork Salary Budget Survey, raises for the top 10 metro areas in the United States range from a high of 2.3% in Washington, D.C., to 2.1% in Baltimore.

2. Tampa, 2.2%

3. Boston, 2.2%

4. Philadelphia, 2.1%

5. Denver, 2.1%

6. Chicago, 2.1%

7. Cincinnati, 2.1%

8. Dallas, 2.1%

9. New York, 2.1%

10. Baltimore, 2.1%

The survey results were based on the responses of 2,600 participants, representing 16 million employees.
