Jenkins appointed to Environmental Protection Board

 Environmental Recovery, has been appointed by Mayor John Peyton to the City of Jacksonville’s Environmental Protection Board (EPB) for the term 2009-2012.


The EPB’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for Jacksonville’s citizens through protection of the natural environment. The EPB acts as the hearing platform for the public with regard to environmental matters, conducts extensive public educational and outreach programs, promulgates local environmental rules and oversees the enforcement of environmental regulations.

Jenkins was selected to the board partially due to his extensive professional experience in the environmental field and his activities in community- and industry-related associations. His professional work has included work in hazardous material and industrial/marine cleaning industry for several companies since 1986.

He has taken key leadership positions with industry associations that were highlighted by work, including strengthening code restrictions as a member of the Atlantic Beach Community Development Board; serving in various capacities, including Tri-Chairman of the First Coast Manufacturers Association; as a member of the National Shipbuilding Research Program’s Extended Lean Enterprise project; and as a founding member and director of the Jacksonville Area Ship Repairs Association.
