Florida worker confidence drops

The Employee Confidence Index of Floridians fell 5.6 points to 37.8 in June, according to the latest Spherion Employment Report. The monthly survey of Florida workers shows that more workers believe the economy is getting weaker and a higher percentage of workers are not confident in their ability to find a job.

Despite this news, however, the survey shows that more Florida workers are likely to look for a new job in the future.

According to the survey, which was conducted by Harris Interactive for the staffing-services company:

• 61% of workers, an increase of 18 points from May, believe the economy is getting weaker;

• 41% are not confident in their ability to find a new job, increasing 12 points from the previous month;

• 42% said they are likely to look for a new job within 12 months, up from 34% last month.
