Costco donates backpacks and supplies to Arlington Heights school

Every student at Arlington Heights Elementary School—not just those who receive free or reduced-cost meals—willcostco_logo receive a free backpack filled with school supplies during orientation this summer thanks to the local Costco store. Arlington Heights is the Arlington Council’s “adopted” school. The Arlington Council’s Education Committee organized the donation.

 Costco and Arlington Council representatives will hand out the backpacks at the school’s orientation the week before school begins.

The Arlington Council is also holding a book drive for the school’s “Gotcha” program. Individuals who would like to donate new or gently used books for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade can contact Education Committee Chairperson Rebekah Susa at Anyone who donates 10 or more books will receive a free Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce polo shirt from Business Outfitters Embroidery.
