Florida Confidence Survey from Spherion Corp.

Report, for the second consecutive month, the Florida Employee Confidence Index increased, rising 1.7 points to 40.7 in April. The monthly survey of Florida workers, conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Spherion Corporation, reveals that fewer workers believe the economy is getting weaker and more workers are confident in their ability to find a new job.

The Florida Employment Report showed:

• Nearly 40% of Florida workers are confident in their ability to find a new job. This is a rise of 7 percentage points from the previous month.

• More workers are likely to look for a new job during the next year. Specifically, 41% indicated a likelihood to do so compared to 32% in March.

“Our latest survey results reveal a continued uptick in overall confidence,” said Paula Franco, branch manager for Spherion Staffing Services in Florida. “Despite this positive news, it is no doubt a tough situation out there for job seekers and employers alike. Clients are being very cautious with their staffing levels and candidates are looking for multiple jobs to fill in the gaps. We are advising both employers and job seekers to be more strategic with their actions, whether it’s working with us to find exactly the right talent or tailoring their resume to fit each open position they are applying for.”
