Free software available to software developers

Small businesses engaged in software development may be eligible to participate in the Microsoft BizSpark program Compact discswhich offers free software and support to businesses meeting eligibility requirements. Some of the software programs available through the program are Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server, Visual Studio, and SQL Server.

According to its Web site (, BizSpark is designed to accelerate small-business success by providing fast, affordable access to current, full-featured Microsoft tools and technologies, plus production licensing for hosted solutions must be.

To be eligible, software developers:

• Sponsored by a Network Partner;

• Privately held;

• In business for less than three years and have less than $1 million in annual revenue.

Also the startup company must also be developing a new “software as a service” solution on any type of platform, to be delivered over the Internet.

One of the partners is Purdue Research Foundation. Although the Foundation is located in Indiana, it says that businesses can be located anywhere.
