Watch out for these 10 spyware threats

Spyware and adware infect computers that are left unprotected. Sunbelt Software, a provider of Windows security software, has identified the top 10 most prevalent spyware and malware threats for March 2009. The report was compiled from monthly scans performed by the company’s antispyware tools and reported by opt-in customers.

The results represent the number of times a particular spyware or malware infection was detected during scans that report back to Sunbelt’s community of opt-in users.

The top ten most prevalent spyware threats for the month of March are:

1.   Virtumonde

2.   Trojan.1

3.   Trojan-Spy.Win32.Zbot.gen

4.   Trojan-Downloader.Zlob.Media-Codec

5.   Virtumonde.Traces (v)

6.   Trojan-Downloader.Generic

7.   Trojan.StartPage.HMH

8.   Antivirus 360

9.   INF.Autorun (v)

10.   Trojan.Crypt.XPACK.Gen
